Online Shop Idea Teaser

Posted in Updates on Monday December 19 2011

Hubby & I came up with an online shop idea that we might experiment with here in a few days or so. Though we're not really expecting much to come of it, the possibilities are making me feel all giddy & childlike again :D & if it ends up paying for at least a pack of diapers or two each month, then it'll have been worth it.

Until we figure out our gameplan a little more, I'll tease you with this little tidbit. It combines a hobby that both the hubby & I share & it's going to be so very retro.

I'm a sucker for conceptual art, especially if it also incorporates a sense of disturbance. Man's World by Tom Gran is one of those unsettling conceptual animations that render you speechless, jaw agape & with a feeling as if your pants have been pulled down ever... so... slowly..., until you instinctively look down only to realize that you're mind is the only thing that has been fucked with. Peace Festival is quite minimalistic in it's presentation, rendering it all the more conceptual & all the more impactful.

Added Error Pages

Posted in Updates on Saturday December 17 2011

I added a handful of customized client & server error pages to the website. I've also decided that I'd leave the "archive" & "categories" alone for now, so all I really have to do is make comments distinguishable from each other. After that, I'll be leaving the websites layout alone for a bit to work on a few projects I've been wanting to get back to.

There hasn't been enough images in these posts lately, so here's a screenshot of my newly created 404 error page:

Sort of "eh", isn't it? BUT! Now that I'm content with my websites layout, I can concentrate on posting more enticing blog entries from here on in! :) Stay tuned, yeah? :D

I've made a fully functional blog layout from scratch in under three days! Now you can comment on entries, find entries by newest, archive, or category & you can also check out next & previous entries by clicking on the next/previous links.

I've also made the robot rollovers! So now, when you hover over each navigational link under "recent entries", the robot changes. I still need to fix the harsh border around the robot images, but it isn't all that big of a deal right now.

There are just a few more minor things I need to fix before I will consider the blog layout good enough. I need to fix the comment colors so that they are distinguishable from each other, add an image with the background color & tile it to the background just in case someones browser doesn't render the background color properly, and the only partially tricky one, make it so that when the archive or category links are clicked, it brings you to those entries instead of bringing you to a page where you click on the title of the entry to view each entry.

I might announce my newly designed website on facebook, twitter, & elsewhere before then. We'll see :) Celebration time! Cooooookies!!!!!!

Quick Update

Posted in Updates on Friday December 16 2011

Transferring posts to a mysql database. Will be adding an option to comment on posts. Also need to add tags/categories, links, & possibly an archive page. Then, I'll be able to mess around with the layout a bit more. Need to make more robot faces so that when links are hovered over, the robot changes. Would also like to mess around with adding shading to the clouds. I know that the double scroll bars are a bit confusing, but in that aspect, I'm choosing style over functionality. Double scroll bars stay! :) Also need to figure out if I want to keep the light text on dark background because it could cause readability issues. I also have a small handful of other things I'm considering.
